For those keeping track at home, this was only the third public release in ghostwrite’s young and promising brand adolescence.
It was also our biggest release so far, in terms of units sold. And, not coincidentally, our most accessible release in terms of Clearing Price.
The ghostwrite x Eastside Golf “Swingman” auction ran for three days, closing on September 19th last week. 50 ghosts were sold via Blind Dutch Auction and all winners paid a Clearing Price of $300. Here are the key stats:

With a $300 Clearing Price, the “Swingman” was our most accessible release to date. The last two public releases – the ghostwrite “One” and Rocky’s Matcha “Latte” – went for $1,026 and $500, respectively.
The lower price point reflects supply and demand in action. For the “Swingman”, there were 50 ghosts available at auction – more than double the supply of the “One”, and considerably more than the “Latte”. In a Blind Dutch Auction, the Clearing Price is a direct function of supply; when supply goes up, the Clearing Price comes down.
To see how, let’s compare this release to the Rocky’s Matcha “Latte” drop from a couple weeks ago. For that drop, we released 30 “Latte” ghosts, so the Clearing Price was equal to the 30th highest bid: $500. If we had increased the supply and released 50 “Latte” ghosts instead, the Clearing Price would have been equal to the 50th highest bid: $300.
In other words, if the supply of the “Latte” and “Swingman” ghosts had been the same (50), the Clearing Prices would have ALSO been the same. They would have both sold for $300.
A toy that doubles as an economics lesson. Yes, we have truly created the perfect product.
