The Blind Dutch Auction for our collaboration with UFC ended on July 17, 2025. The “Ruby” 400% ghost was released in recognition of UFC International Fight Week 2025 and honors the warriors who have entered into The Octagon and emerged victorious.

The three-day Blind Dutch Auction for the UFC “Ruby” 400% ghost ran from July 15th through the 17th. Here’s what happened:
- Total ghosts sold: 100
- Total bids: 168
- People who bid for one ghost: 84
- People who bid for two ghosts: 42
- Highest Bid: $1,700
- Clearing Price: $150
An interesting data point here is that the total number of bids from people who placed two bids was exactly the same amount of bids from the people who placed one bid. 42 people x 2 bids = 84 bids. 84 people x 1 bid = 84 bids. Whoa.
Now it’s time for a little lesson in how Blind Dutch Auctions work…
It’s worth noting in the auction recap infographic above that there was one losing bid at $150. And so now you’re probably wondering, “What gives? How could someone who placed a bid at the clearing price not win the auction?” Great question.
Occasionally, our Blind Dutch Auctions will sometimes results in a “tie” where several people bid at the exact Clearing Price, but not all of them win. In the event of a “tie”, we prioritize bids based on the time they were submitted. So, for multiple bids of the same amount, the earliest bids are ranked highest.
In the case here, there were 10 bids placed at $150. Looking at the timestamp of those ten bids, we rank them from earliest to latest placed, relative to the start of the auction. So unfortunately, the $150 that was placed last, effectively becomes the 101st highest bid, aka, the first losing bid.
So what’s the lesson?
To paraphrase Al Capone, “When considering a bid on a ghostwrite Blind Dutch Auction, make sure you bid early and when in doubt, bid often”.
