In December of 2024 we released our first ghostwrite blind box set with the WNBA. You can read all about it on the WNBA ghostwrite recap page, including the Caitlin Clark 1/1 rookie ghost selling for $30K and our inaugural Famous Fan, Aubrey Plaza.
Next up is Major League Baseball.
For our second “Game Face” blind box collection, we compiled the following handy guide which includes the player checklist, Famous Fan, rookies, chase parallels, inserts, odds and more!
Blind Box Math
Blind box ghosts are what we call “100%” size – 2.75” tall x 1.125” wide. They are sold in “blind boxes”, which means you won’t know which MLB player you get until you open the box. The 100% blind boxes come in cases, and each case contains 12 blind boxed ghosts.
Here are the key stats:
- Cases produced = 1,822
- ghosts per case = 12
- Players in the set = 20
- Rookies in the set = 3
- Famous Fans in the set = 1
- Player parallels = 6
- Inserts = 5
- Total unique ghost designs = 125
- Average hits per case = 1
Blind box ghosts operate almost identically to trading cards – hence the trading card terminology above like “parallel”, “insert”, “rookie”, and “hit”. If you’re a card collector, you know these words well, and you also probably understand the experience. When designing this product, it was that experience that we’ve tried to replicate – like chasing the 1/1 of your favorite rookie!
But there is one important difference between cards and ghosts. Well, two important differences, if you count the fact that ghosts are 3-dimensional. In a typical trading card set, pretty much every player in the league is included. But for 3-dimensional blind box toys, it’s impossible to make a set with hundreds of different players. For our MLB 2025 collection, we had to narrow it down to nineteen players, plus one famous fan – Mark Wahlberg.
The list of MLB players included in this collection was solidified well before starting rotations were decided or season-ending Tommy John surgeries were agreed upon. Is our list perfect? No, not even close. We tried our best to include a good mix of teams, pitchers and position players, and facial hair stylings. If your favorite switch-hitting slugger or flame-throwing pitcher didn’t make the cut this year, there’s a very good chance that they will appear in a future set.

The Base Design: Game Face
The MLB collection uses the same “Game Face” design that we introduced with our WNBA 2024 Blind Box collection and it will appear again in our NBA collection later this year. Each player in the MLB 2025 collection dons a variety of home and away jerseys with a color-coordinated ball cap/crown and shoes. Where possible, we also took note of each player’s preference for high socks vs. long pants, use of eye black, and facial hair vs. clean shaven.
The three rookies in the 2025 set – Max Clark, Roki Sasaki, and Roman Anthony – all have an “R” designation on the upper right shoulder of their jerseys.
Parallels and Inserts
Including the base design, every MLB player and famous fan, Mark Wahlberg, have six total parallels.
So what’s a ghost “parallel”?
ghost parallels function just like trading card parallels. In a set of baseball cards, a particular player will have a base card. This is the most commonly produced version of that player’s card. After the base card there are other variants – or “parallels” – of that same card (same player and same image). The parallel variants have different visual elements, and they are produced in much lower numbers, making them more rare and more valuable to card collectors. Just like cards, ghost parallels are ultra-rare variants of base “Game Face” design.
Here is the lineup of all six parallels for the Ronald Acuña Jr. ghosts in the MLB collection. From left to right – Base, Victory, Emerald, Gold, Chrome, and Fire.
The Emerald crown is a brand new metallic parallel being introduced for the first time in ghostwrite history!
For those devout Sabermetric enthusiasts, here are the stats on the quantities produced of each rare parallel (above the Base parallel) and your chances of pulling each in a case.
| Parallel | Quantity Produced / Player | Approximate Odds Per Case |
| Victory | 50 | 1 per every 1.8 cases |
| Emerald | 25 | 1 per every 3.5 cases |
| Gold | 10 | 1 per every 8.7 cases |
| Chrome | 5 | 1 per every 17.4 cases |
| Fire | 1 | 1 per every 54 cases |
In addition to the player parallels, there are four trophy inserts included in the MLB blind box collection that are even more rare and exclusive. These trophy ghosts bear the classic MLB logo across their chests along with “2025” – the year of this collection.
A total of 25 Emerald, 10 Gold, 5 Chrome, and one single Fire trophies were produced for this collection, making each trophy insert 20X more rare than its corresponding player parallel.
There is also a 1/1 ghostwrite branded insert in the collection. We can’t reveal the full design but if you’re eyesight was really bad, it would look like this:

Transparent Supply
Production transparency supports true collectability. By being transparent and open about the scarcity of our ghosts, we create long-term value for collectors. That’s why we’ve made it as easy as possible to know, for each design, exactly how many ghosts exist.
The numbering on the bottom of the foot of the MLB 100% ghosts will show, “0425.X”. This means that this ghost was designed in April of 2025. The “X” will be an actual number that indicates how many of that particular ghost has been produced. If for example you pulled an Emerald crown Ronald Acuña Jr., the number on its foot would read “0425.25”.
Player Exclusives
ghostwrite was founded by a team of lifelong card collectors. Throughout this blog post, we’ve talked about all the lessons and insights we drew from trading cards when designing this set. But in addition to being card collectors, we’re ALSO a team of sneakerheads. So we took a couple lessons from sneakers, too.
Most importantly: the concept of the “player exclusive”. Player exclusive sneakers are specific colorways made exclusively for players. They’re never sold to the public; they’re gifted directly to the players themselves.
We did the same thing here. For each player, we created a unique /5 player exclusive parallel. And we’re gifting each player their five PE ghosts. Here’s what they look like:
To be clear: you can’t get these PE ghosts in the cases that you buy. They weren’t packaged into any of our blind boxes; they aren’t for sale. It’s possible you’ll see them someday on the secondary market. But if you do, know they came directly from the player (or, perhaps, an extremely close and lucky friend of the player, in the event they gifted them to someone else).
Seventh Inning Stretch – Final Thoughts
In addition to the 21,862 (transparent supply much?) 100% ghosts produced for this MLB Blind Box collection, there is also a smaller run of 400% MLB ghosts that will be available on our site later this summer, representing seven select players from the larger group of twenty. There is also a select number of 1000% (27.5″ H x 11.25″ W x 8″ D) MLB ghosts that were produced for display purposes only (wink, wink) that may pop up at your local card or hobby shop in the coming weeks. More on those 400% and 1000% ghosts later.
The release of this MLB “Game Face” 2025 100% Blind Box collection will function like our usual Blind Dutch Auctions with two notable exceptions. First, you can bid for up to 10 cases.
And second, there is a minimum bid of $400. Until then, it’s time to study the odds and get your checklists ready.
Oh, one last thing. For every winning bid you place on the MLB collection, you will receive one free plastic case that looks like the one below…ghosts are not included. You can also purchase more of them on our site: HERE.
