The end of our Blind Dutch Auction with the MLB on Friday, August 8th, marked a series of firsts. The first ghostwrite x MLB blind box. The first MLB rookie ghosts. The first MLB superstar ghosts. And the first famous fan ghost.
Let’s take a look at the numbers behind the story.

The Blind Dutch Auction for the ghostwrite x MLB “Game Face” 100% Blind Box collection ran from August 5th through August 8th, and per usual, the market set the Clearing Price. Here’s what happened:
- Total cases sold: 300 (with 12 ghosts per case = 3,600 total ghosts!)
- Total bids: 457
- People who bid for one case: 175
- People who bid for more than one case: 71
- People who bid for the max of 10 cases: 7
- Highest Bid: $2,000
- Clearing Price: $425
In another interesting episode of “The Rules of a Blind Dutch Auction”, there were actually 14 bids placed at $425, but only one of those bids was a winner. When looking at these 14 bids, we refer to the timestamp of when they were placed to rank order them. The bid placed closest to when the BDA started is ranked first, and so on. Coincidentally, the first bid placed at $425 was the 300th highest bid, aka the last winning bid.
Tie goes to the runner.
