On September 18, 2025, we wrapped up the Blind Dutch Auction for our NBA “Game Face” 100% Blind Box collection. With over 800 bids on 300 cases, this one proved to be our biggest release to date. For all the first-time bidders out there still getting your head around this strange, Northern-European-named auction format, let’s rewind the tape.
In every Blind Dutch Auction, supply and demand set the price. In the NBA auction, we had record-setting demand (814 bids) chasing limited supply (300 cases). So it’s no surprise that, when compared to previous releases with similar supply numbers, the Clearing Price was higher ($500 per case).
But even though the Clearing Price was relatively high, almost every bidder who won the auction paid less than what they bid. There were bids for $700, $1000…. even a high bid of $2,111! But all those bidders paid the same Clearing Price of $500 per case.
Here’s the quick stats:
- Total cases sold: 300
- Total bids: 814
- People who bid for one case: 189
- People who bid for more than one case: 136
- People who bid for the maximum, 10 cases: 31
- Highest Bid: $2,111
- Clearing Price: $500
Another interesting note: some of you eagle-eyed bidders probably noticed that we removed the minimum bid requirement for this auction. As a result, a lot of people bid on the low end of the range, with many bidding $100 or less.
But even without a minimum bid, demand was strong enough to keep the Clearing Price high – right in line with what we expected, compared to our previous MLB and WNBA releases. Once again, the market remains undefeated.
