The ghostwrite Team is extremely excited that our first blind box release of 2026 is our second WNBA blind box release, commemorating their 2025 season. This being our second WNBA release, we’ve changed up a few things to keep the excitement an all time high. There are some new players in the set, new designs to enjoy, and of course, a brand new Famous Fan. Let’s dig in.
Blind Box Math
Blind box ghosts are what we call “100%” size – 2.75” tall x 1.125” wide. They are sold in “blind boxes”, which means you won’t know which WNBA player you get until you open the box. The 100% blind boxes come in cases, and each case contains 12 blind boxed ghosts.
Here are the key stats:
- Cases produced = 1,117
- ghosts per case = 12
- Players in the set = 14
- Rookies in the set = 4
- Famous Fans in the set = 1
- Player parallels = 6
- Rare Inserts = 5
- Total unique ghost designs = 111
- Average hits per case = 1
Blind box ghosts operate almost identically to trading cards – hence the trading card terminology above like “parallel”, “insert”, “rookie”, and “hit”. If you’re a card collector, you know these words well, and you also probably understand the experience. When designing this product, it was that experience that we’ve tried to replicate – like chasing the 1/1 of your favorite rookie!
But there is one important difference between cards and ghosts. Well, two important differences, if you count the fact that ghosts are 3-dimensional. In a typical trading card set, pretty much every player in the league is included. But for 3-dimensional blind box toys, it’s impossible to make a set with hundreds of different players. Again, this being our second WNBA collection, we have the benefit of hindsight and also took the amazing feedback from the ghostwrite community into account when selecting the 14 players, plus one famous fan, to include in the 2025 Season release.

New Year: New Designs
In addition to the nine new players being included in the WNBA 2025 Season Blind Box release, we are excited to reveal some new designs.
First up is the new face that will appear across all players and all parallels in the set. The unofficial name for this new design is “I Got This”. As in, “pass me the rock, I got this”. With one raised eyebrow and a confident smirk, she knows the ball is going in before it even leaves her fingertips.
This is what the new WNBA Base design looks like for Kelsey Plum who is representing the L.A. Sparks this year after being traded last offseason.

Next up is this year’s new “Victory” parallel. Simply put, it features the same facial expression as the Base parallel except that the player is wearing a pair of sunglasses. Because nothing says “we just notched a huge W” better than throwing on a slick pair of shades for the post game presser.
Again, here is what Kelsey Plum’s “Victory” parallel looks like in the WNBA 2025 collection.

The four rookies in the collection — Hailey Van Lith, Kik Iriafen, Paige Bueckers, and Sonia Citron — all have an “R” designation on the upper right shoulder of their jerseys.

Parallels and Inserts
ghost parallels function just like trading card parallels. The parallel variants have different visual elements, and they are produced in much lower numbers, making them more rare and more valuable to l collectors.
Here is the lineup of the base design and five parallels for Angel Reese. From left to right – Base, Victory, Emerald, Gold, Chrome, and Fire.

| Parallel | Quantity Per Player | Approx. Odds Per Case |
| Victory | 50 | 1 per 1.5 cases |
| Emerald | 25 | 1 per 3 cases |
| Gold | 10 | 1 per 7 cases |
| Chrome | 5 | 1 per 14 cases |
| Fire | 1 | 1 per 66 cases |
In addition to the player parallels, there are four trophy inserts included in the WNBA blind box collection that are even more rare and exclusive. These trophy ghosts bear the WNBA wordmark across their chests along with “2025” – the year of this collection.

As with our previous Blind Box collections, there is also the extremely elusive, extremely rare 1/1 ghostwrite branded insert in the collection. Our lawyers have asked us to keep this one blurred for now.

Lena Waithe: Famous Fan
As a well-known Chicagoan, having Lena Waithe appear in this collection rocking a Chicago Sky crewneck and fitted just made sense. However, as a huge fan of the WNBA overall, and the game of basketball writ large, Lena is just as likely to be spotted courtside at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, rubbing elbows with the other celebs at an L.A. Sparks games, and shouting out Paige “Buckets” Bueckers in her socials. Lena Waithe loves basketball and loves the WNBA.

Transparent Supply
Production transparency supports true collectability. By being transparent and open about the scarcity of our ghosts, we create long-term value for collectors. That’s why we’ve made it as easy as possible to know, for each design, exactly how many ghosts exist.
The numbering on the bottom of the foot of the WNBA 100% ghosts will show, “0925.X”. This means that this ghost was designed in September of 2025. The “X” will be an actual number that indicates how many of that particular ghost has been produced. If for example you pulled a Paige Bueckers Base parallel, the bottom of its foot would read “0925.800”, like this…

Player Exclusives
ghostwrite was founded by a team of lifelong card collectors. Throughout this blog post, we’ve talked about all the lessons and insights we drew from trading cards when designing this set. But in addition to being card collectors, we’re ALSO a team of sneakerheads. So we took a couple lessons from sneakers, too.
Most importantly: the concept of the “player exclusive”. Player exclusive sneakers are specific colorways made exclusively for players. They’re never sold to the public; they’re gifted directly to the players themselves.
We did the same thing here. For each player, we created a unique /5 player exclusive parallel. And we’re gifting each player their five PE ghosts. Here’s what they look like. Well, here’s what Sonia Citron’s PE looks like:

To be clear: you can’t get these PE ghosts in the cases that you buy. They weren’t packaged into any of our blind boxes; they aren’t for sale. It’s possible you’ll see them someday on the secondary market. But if you do, know they came directly from the player (or, perhaps, an extremely close and lucky friend of the player, in the event they gifted them to someone else).
Final Thoughts
For every case of WNBA “2025 Season” 100% Blind Box Collection that you purchase in the Blind Dutch Auction, you will receive one free plastic case to keep your biggest hits safe. They look like the cases pictured here but do not include any ghosts inside of them. You can also purchase more of these cases on our site: HERE.
